The petition of the undersigned residents of Tasmania draws to the attention of the House:

The proposal for an industrial tourist highway going along Jeffery's Track, Crabtree Road, White Timber Trail, Judd's Creek Road and Lachlan Road. This project will require State funding to proceed.

The undersigned residents object to the project on the following grounds: -

  1. The proposal will result in the destruction of natural environment for endangered native animals, locally protected community recreation, and nature reserves.
  2. The proposal will result in excessive noise, hazards and congestion from traffic for residents.
  3. The proposal will require significant land acquisition.

Your Petitioners therefore ask the House to reject any further state support, financial or otherwise, for the aforementioned proposal.
