Tasmanian citizens draw to the attention of the House that the Minister for Children intends to legislate for late-term abortion in Tasmania, which is totally unacceptable. Your petitioners therefore request the House to:- (1) Recognise the dignity and humanity of unborn babies; understanding that increasing the age which unborn babies can be aborted is unwarranted, inhumane and against the wishes of a majority of Tasmanians with 73% opposed. (Galaxy Poll February 2013) (2) Reject the legalisation of late-term abortions for any reason other than the essential preservation of a mother's life. (3) Reject the proposed legislation from the Minister for Children for late-term-abortion. (4) Introduce measures which provide more support for expectant mothers from all social circumstances that recognise the value and life of unborn children.
