TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Assembly (Tasmania)
Tasmanian Citizens draw to the attention of the House: To the destructive impacts associated with wood-fired power stations and the removal of Tasmanian native forest biomass to fuel power stations in Tasmania and overseas, including greenhouse gas emissions, impacts on invertebrate biodiversity, smoke and particulate pollution as well as increased impacts on native forests. Your petitioners request the House to: Legislate for an immediate ban on the burning of native forest and native ecosystem biomass for electricity generation and the removal and/or exportation of native ecosystem biomass for electricity generation in Tasmania or overseas.
