Call for immediate action for new ice sports facility in Tasmania

The petition of the undersigned citizens of Tasmania draws to the attention of the House that Tasmania's only ice rink closed in May 2022. Since then, athletes can't train, children can't learn to skate, and families have lost a clean, safe space to come together for healthy fun. The Tasmanian Government has conducted feasibility studies and the need for a new facility is clear. Our athletes and community deserve action. 

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the Tasmanian Government to honour its commitment agreed to by the House of Assembly on 18 October 2023; determine and announce a site for a new facility by 31 December 2025; and provide the necessary funding and begin the build in 2026.
