TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Assembly (Tasmania)

The petition of the undersigned Residents of Tasmania draws to the attention of the House grave concerns about the Tasmanian government's intention to convert 39,000 hectares of Crown land previously slated for protection known as 'Future Potential Production Forests' to 'Permanent Timber Production Zone' for the purpose of logging.

Your petitioners request that the House note:

1. There are 27 parcels of land across northern Tasmania slated for conversion.

2. Five priority lots have been identified by Forestry Tasmania in the Lilydale and Nile areas.

3. These forests are treasured by local residents of northern Tasmania.

4. These areas were slated for protection following the Tasmanian Forest Agreement (TFA) as 'Future Reserve Land'.

5. The TFA was torn up by the Hodgman Liberal government in 2014 creating the FPPF land tenure from those future reserves.

Your petitioners therefore call upon the House to:

1. Reject any attempt by the Tasmanian government to convert any FPPF land to PTPZ land.

2. Support the conversion of all FPPF land to permanent reserves as was the intention of the TFA.
