We, the undersigned residents of Tasmania, draw the House's attention to Renewable Energy Zone(s) being proposed, and wind farms approved without full consent of all communities impacted.
All Tasmanians will be impacted due to the immense scale and nature of wind energy production plans, including generating power beyond current and future needs of Tasmania, for trading with the mainland via Marinus Link.
Your petitioners request the House to call on the Government to:
- Immediately stop Renewable Energy Zoning; and approvals, construction of wind power projects and infrastructure, including Marinus Link (retrospectively where necessary)
   - Thoroughly research the negative (not just positive) effects of wind projects beyond economics, including:
      - All environmental effects, eg on threatened species, vegetation, erosion, local weather changes, etc
    - Fire hazards, other disasters
    - All forms of pollution (including BPA/other toxins, noise, frequency, visual, shadow flicker)
    - Loss of tourism, agricultural productivity, jobs
    - Groundwater effects
    - Community health/wellbeing, including loss/devaluation of homes, farms
    - Aboriginal cultural heritage
    - FIFO jobs, housing pressures
    - blackouts, energy grid
    - decommissioning costs, turbine disposal
    - foreign ownership/control
    - wealth transfer by energy certificates
    - closeness of companies' relationships with government representatives
    - greenwashing
    - implications of becoming a "battery" rather than a food bowl, tourist destination

  - Ensure all these findings are compared with other energy alternatives, then provided in an open, honest, accessible way to all Tasmanians, along with a genuine process for voicing their decision on all major energy developments, unlike current public consultation methods.
