Tarkine Tourist Road

The undersigned electors of the Division of Braddon draw the attention of the House to the potential benefits of the Tarkine Tourist Road for our region. We believe the full loop road will be the foundation that underpins further public and private investment that will make the Tarkine an iconic tourist destination. We support the Tasmanian Government's decision to go ahead with the $23 million project because it is clearly the best option as demonstrated by independent consultants engaged to assess the tourist potential of the Tarkine Tourist Road. The North-West Coast needs an iconic tourist destination and we believe the Tarkine Tourist Road presents the best opportunity for our region to become a major player in Tasmanian tourism. Your petitioners, therefore, request that the House acknowledge the benefits this project offers for employment and economic activity for our community in the short term and as a wealth creating asset for generations to come.
